The casual elegance of this large room emanates from the wood trim, the polished wooden floor, a handsome pair of wood wall sculptures by Roy Setziol flanking the stage in front, and tall windows that let in views of the forest outside. A grand piano stands below and to one side of the platform stage. Rose-colored upholstered chairs add warmth of color and are comfortable and movable. Our Sanctuary functions also as an art gallery in which local artists each month offer delightful displays. The absence of sectarian symbols on our walls may be important to your participants or guests. The bare wooden floor and the excellent sound system make the large room nice for dancing. 

Equipment in the Sanctuary: sound system, CD player, microphone on the lectern, wireless handheld microphone, in-focus machine for power-point presentations, pull-down media screen, variable lighting. The facility has, of course, heating, and downstairs, restrooms, a child-care room, a coffee bar, and kitchen facilities, and is wheelchair accessible. Parking accommodates 70 cars.

THE COFFEE ROOM

This large (21’ x 33’) carpeted room in the daylight lower level is often used for receptions and also works well for workshops, exercise, meditation, or crafts activities. Floor-to-ceiling windows look onto our patio and landscaped beds. This room holds up to 40 people at tables and chairs, which are stored nearby. Also in the room are a stove, refrigerator, and coffee-making set-up. Adjoining are restrooms and a child-care room; an outer door opens onto the patio.

FOREST HALL

Our Forest Hall is a carpeted, well-lit double room of 600 square feet in muted colors, suitable for meetings, classes, or receptions. At full size, it will comfortably accommodate 125 people standing  or 75 seated at tables, and it can be divided by anaccordion wall (not soundproof) into two smaller rooms. It has an upright piano, is near the kitchen and restrooms, and opens onto our patio.  Full-length windows on three sides bring the out-of-doors and plenty of light into the rooms. If you combine it with the library area just beyond the double doors, you can have a welcoming entry area, food buffet, quiet space, or break area from activities going on inside the main room(s).

A CEREMONIAL PLACE

Because our buildings do not show religious symbols, they are used by people of various religions. We host bar and bat mitzvahs, graduation, birthday, anniversary, and retirement parties, as well as memorial, wedding, commitment, and naming services.

Planning a Wedding?

WHUUF is beautiful place to have a wedding, from the warmly elegant Sanctuary upstairs for your ceremony, to the well-appointed Coffee Room and Forest Hall below for the reception, with full kitchen for food service, (and a restroom with full-length mirror for the bride --we even provide an iron and ironing board). 

Our  sanctuary  seats 125 people; you’ll be pleased with the flexibility of the lighting and chair arrangements. The stage in front, about 12” x 25”,  will  easily  accommodate  large wedding parties and your flowers and candles. You could arrange to have the Sanctuary chairs moved after the ceremony to make room for you and your guests to dance.

Our congregation is currently lay-led; you may choose your officiant --minister, rabbi, priest-- to perform your service, or we can help you find the right match if you like.

Looking for a smaller room?

Fireside room

This inviting adult meeting room for up to 12 features a fireplace, a long table, comfortable, upholstered chairs, and carpeted floor. Shaded windows, fireplace, and dimmable lights allow you to vary the ambience to suit your gathering.

Hemlock room

Here’s a bright room with child-appropriate decor and furniture: how about a big birthday party? It has chairs and tables for 30, a sink and counter space, good lighting, and vinyl flooring with an area rug. Restrooms are just down the breezeway.

Acorn room

This colorful room can be used by children or adults: chairs (some adult size) and tables for 15, a sink and counter space, good lighting, vinyl flooring with an area rug, and a toilet area.

MINOR DETAILS

WHUUF is a smoke-free facility; each room has a fire extinguisher and a smoke alarm.

Set up and clean up are the responsibility of the renter as WHUUF does not offer these services. We do provide all the necessary materials and equipment you will need for the cleaning we expect.

If you need to include our kitchen in your rental, you will find it well stocked with dishes, tableware, bowls, mugs, trays, punchbowls and cups, pots, pans, and the usual appliances.
