The Doll Gardner Art Gallery's show for April showcases two Portland area artists, Ann Munson and Jan Rimerman.

MUNSON/RIMERMAN: “OF THE EARTH”

Both artists work with layers of acrylic and other media to create timeless landscapes. Also on display will be whimsical mosaic and ceramic pieces by Ann Rimerman.

Ann Munson
I have been making art for all my life in a variety of mediums but currently am enjoying the additive processes involved in paper collage and mosaic. First you shop, then you break apart, then you rebuild! When creating a paper collage I make my own combed paste paper for collage and employ layers of transparent acrylics to create a second reality over the patterned layer.

Jan Rimerman
As an artist I am constantly stretching, learning, and experimenting. The process is important to me, not necessarily the result. The thrill of a creation is in its evolution. Whether getting completely covered in powdered charcoal, discovering a new color combination, or waiting hours for the medium to dry, the outcome is always exciting. I am ecstatic when the composition is so strong that I can turn it any direction and the painting still works.
