THANK YOU
To everyone who helped make such a wonderful celebration of Peter Serrell's life.
Peter's family who imagined it into reality, creating "a work of art" in the shoes and shirts of their father, grandfather and beloved companion. Chip Masarie and Peter's men's group for allowing us to share their loss, their feelings, their intimacy - what a precious gift! Betsy Weston's faithful musical support of Marty Deer's sweet, clear song, connecting our Sanctuary to the Universe. Chris Murray's song reminding us to be thankful for this life and this moment. Our wonderful WHUUFtones, thank you all. Thanks to Dianna Weston and Sean Shea for communications. Thanks to Janet Liu and Roger Meyer for greeting guests; Marcia Waugh and Sulima Malzin for working closely with the family to create the keepsake handout; Karen VanHoy for arranging Peter's retrospective exhibit; Bud Clark for videotaping and attending the keg; and Bob Todd and Joe Boyd for attention to coffee and tea. Gratitude to Lorraine Heller, JoAnne Nordling and Gail Foster for overseeing the food tables. Natalie Reich, Sue Alperin, Sulima Malzin, Barb Fankhauser, & Bob Pearson for cleaning up and putting it all away. Thank you John Riles, Elouise Binn, & Grace Weinstein for standing by and all of you who simply helped because that is how we minister to one another. Bob Fankhauser, Mary Sherman, Jim Mezenich, Brook Gutman, Costa and Marge Columbus, thanks for continuously "holding the fort" and making work look like magic.
Again and again the terms "unique" and "beautiful" surface to describe our UU lay-led faith community and, once again, only at WHUUF could an event be so true to the nature of Peter Serrell, his family and WHUUF itself.
Norma Heyser, (privileged to be asked by Peter's family to organize his memorial service.)
